The Handweavers & Spinners Guild rooms are open under covid-19 alert level 1 guidelines 

Welcome to the Handweavers & Spinners Guild Auckland!

We are a friendly community of fibre enthusiasts who love sharing our experiences, knowledge, ideas, successes and challenges in spinning, weaving, knitting, felting, tapestry weaving, crotchet and other fibre crafts.

The Guild is open to all ages and abilities and welcomes new members. Membership of the Guild offers:

  • special interest groups in knitting, spinning, weaving, tapestry weaving and felting
  • access to a comprehensive textile craft library
  • access to yarns and fibre for purchase (especially yarns and fibre not readily accessible in New Zealand)
  • equipment to borrow
  • discount on classes and workshops
  • a community of congenial fibre enthusiasts.

2021 classes

  • Beginner Spinning (Spinning Wheel) – Sunday 30 May 9.30am-12pm
  • Beginner Spinning (Spinning Wheel) – Sunday 6 June 9.30am-12pm
  • Beginner Felting – Make a Fabulous Felt Flap Bag – Sat 12 June  9.30am-1pm
  • 4 Shaft Weaving Weekend Workshop – Sat 19 June, Sun 20 June 9am-3pm each day
  • Creative Rigid Heddle Weaving – Sunday 4 July  9.30am-1pm
  • Creative Rigid Heddle Weaving – Sunday 11 July 9.30am-1pm
  • 4 Shaft Weaving Weekend Workshop – Sat 31 July, Sun 1 Aug 9am-3pm each day
  • Beginner Tapestry Weaving – Saturday 21 August 10am-4pm

About the Handweavers & Spinners Guild

Since it was set up in 1954, the Guild has fostered and encouraged the fibre arts in a welcoming and sharing community.
The Guild is affiliated to Creative Fibre, the New Zealand organisation for all fibre crafts.
To join the Guild, you must also be a member of Creative Fibre.
Annual Guild membership: $45
Annual Creative Fibre membership: $35
