Handweavers and Spinners Guild activities, events and meetings will slowly begin again at the Guild rooms as restrictions under covid-19 alert level 2 are loosened.

Tuesday Night Textilers group meetings have now resumed at the Guild rooms.

The 2020 education programme begins with a three-day weaving staycation over Queen’s Birthday weekend (subject to remaining at covid-19 alert level 2 and/or 1). See below for a list of the 2020 classes.  See the Classes page for full class details and an online registration form.

Welcome to the Handweavers and Spinner Guild Auckland!

We are a friendly community of fibre enthusiasts who love sharing our experiences, knowledge, ideas, successes and challenges in spinning, weaving, knitting, felting, tapestry weaving, crotchet and other fibre crafts.

The Guild is open to all ages and abilities and welcomes new members. Membership of the Guild offers:

  • special interest groups in knitting, spinning, weaving, tapestry weaving and felting
  • access to a comprehensive textile craft library
  • access to yarns and fibre for purchase (especially yarns and fibre not readily accessible in New Zealand)
  • equipment to borrow
  • discount on classes and workshops
  • a community of congenial fibre enthusiasts.

Since it was set up in 1954, the Guild has fostered and encouraged the fibre arts in a welcoming and sharing community.
The Guild is affiliated to Creative Fibre, the New Zealand organisation for all fibre crafts.
To join the Guild, you must also be a member of Creative Fibre.
