Guild groups and meetings
The Handweavers & Spinners Guild runs meetings and special interest groups throughout the year. See the Calendar for dates of meetings and special interest groups. There are also updates on the Guild’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
We encourage people attending events at the Guild rooms to take responsibility for the safety of themselves and others while at the Guild rooms and to stay home if you feel unwell.

Tuesday Night Textilers (TNT)
Join us on Tuesday evenings as we natter over knitting or chat over crochet – or maybe you fancy a bit of felting, weaving, spinning – it’s all happening.
Forgotten how to read a pattern? What’s the difference between yarn over and double crochet? I’d like to use my mother’s spinning wheel – can you help? How do you weave? What is felting? Where can I get supplies, information, tuition? Can I just sit and knit … or crochet … or bring my needlework? Absolutely!
Bring your current work and join this friendly, sharing group. There’s generally someone who can help answer your questions and find solutions to fibre-related problems.

Tapestry Weavers
Tapestry weaving goes back hundreds of years to the earliest beginnings of thread interlacing. Traditionally it is a handweaving technique, which produces a flat-surfaced, plain weave, weft-faced fabric in which you construct the cloth at the same time as weaving the design.
Tapestries can be woven on anything that can support a warp (e.g. an old picture frame) and can be any size from miniatures to very large. At our meetings we usually work on our individual tapestries, learn and share new techniques, and discuss other weavers’ inspirational work.
New weavers are welcome and will find help and encouragement at the monthly meetings.
